HISTORY
1947 Started as a special school for medicine at Ofusa-cho, Kashihara-shi.
1948 Transformed to a medical university. The building for Basic Medicine moved to Unebi-cho, Kashihara-shi.
1949 Library started in the Basic Medicine building, also borrowing a space from the Kashihara Branch of the Nara Prefectural Library and also from the Administration Department of the University. Hospital Library was opened the same year to be used as a meeting room as well.
1951 Library joined the Japan Medical Library Association.
1959 Library moved temporarily to the fourth floor of the newly built Basic Medicine building (present Clinical Research Building).
1961 The former Library building completed in November.
1979 The present Library building completed in April. Online information retrieval services started.
1985 Book Detection System installed.
1989 Started connecting to NACSIS-CAT cataloging system (The National Center for Science Information Systems of the Minister of Education, Science, Sports and Culture).
1991 Library hours extended from 18:00 to 22:00.
1994 CD-LAN information retrieval started.
1999 Intra-campus information retrieval started.
2003 Supervising system for Library installed. Library hours unattended by staff started for Saturdays and the night time of weekdays. A new checking-out system began with magnetic cards and bar codes.
2004 Library of the Nursing School changed to a branch of the main Library in April. Total library management system (CARIN) started in May.
