Member

Toyosaku Ota (Professor)

Overview

This department helps students learn about the development of human mind from neuroscientific and psychophysiological viewpoints, and enhance their understanding of the development of individuals by integrating these viewpoints, with the aim of nurturing developmental perspectives to appropriately understand one's behavior. While learning the mechanisms and functions of the brain and neurotransmission, they will study developmental theories established by Freud, Piaget, Mahler, Winnicott, and Bowlby to develop knowledge of the mechanisms and functions of mind and the brain. Furthermore, they will learn the pathology, etiology, and therapeutics of neurodevelopmental disorders, focusing on the common characteristics of neurodevelopmental and attachment disorders, as well as methods to differentiate them.
