Overview

Previous research at our university on the mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance has made significant contributions to elucidating the molecular basis of resistance in antimicrobial-resistant bacteria and has received widespread recognition both nationally and internationally. While these studies have greatly advanced our understanding of how antimicrobial resistance emerges, further research is needed to translate these findings into effective strategies for preventing the dissemination of resistant bacteria and improving their control in clinical practice. Building on this strong foundation of basic research, this department aims to comprehensively advance translational and applied research directed toward the establishment of effective technologies for controlling antimicrobial-resistant bacteria and the implementation of evidence-based strategies to prevent the spread of infection. Through the establishment of this department, we expect to strengthen the integration of fundamental research with clinical and societal applications, thereby creating strong synergies with existing research programs across the university.
