Specialized Subjects

The Department of Public Health, Health Management and Policy not only deals with conventional public health studies, but also gives systematic lectures on health policy, health economics, hospital management, medical/healthcare ethics, quality, and safety, and evidence-based public health (EBPH), aiming to help students acquire skills to apply scientific evidence obtained through these social medical studies for the formulation of national and municipal health policies.

In particular, knowledge of hospital management and the medical system is the knowledge needed every day by those who work in society as medical professionals to practice medicine, similar to the medical knowledge that is used by such professionals throughout their lives to provide medical care.

In order to develop accurate insights into these points, it is necessary to consider:

1) Why the current systems related to public health and medical services were established and have been maintained up until the present; and

2) What will happen to these systems in the future.

3) In this respect, the department helps students systematically understand from the background of public health administration to medical administration.
