In 2019, Nara Medical University became the first institution in Japan to establish master’s and doctoral programs in Clinical Neuromonitoring within its Graduate School of Medicine. These programs aim to cultivate highly skilled professionals capable of performing precise intraoperative neuromonitoring. The department brings together neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, anesthesiologists, and clinical laboratory technologists to provide hands-on education and conduct research that advances the field of neuromonitoring. The master’s program spans two years, while the doctoral program is a four-year course. A part-time program is also available for working professionals, allowing students to continue their clinical duties while pursuing their studies. Part-time students are required to participate in practical neuromonitoring sessions and attend lectures at the university at least once a week.
