These two graduated research sections are managed by the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. Through collaboration with three endowed departments of Orthopaedic Oncology and Reconstructive Medice, Sports Medicine, and Hand Surgery, multidisciplinary research systems are built up.

In these two departments, basic researches about etiology and pathology of all musculoskeletal disorders, clinical researches concerning treatments performed in the past and development of innovative treatments, as well as basic research on oncology were widely promoted.

In the field of regenerative medicine, we are engaged in cutting-edge research activities, such as the development and clinical application of cultured cells for artificial joint prostheses or artificial bones. We also conduct researches to elucidate the pathologies of osteoarthritis of the ankle and hallux valgus in the field of foot and ankle surgery, overuse injury in sports medicine and ulnar side pain in the wrist joint in the field of hand surgery, as well as the development of new minimally invasive surgery methods using arthroscopes. Moreover, so many biomechanical researches are performed to prove the efficacy of the newly developed treatments theoretically in these departments.
