The primary research focus of our department is the elucidation of disease mechanisms through the integration of pathological and clinical findings. Building on our diagnostic practice, which encompasses approximately 12,000 surgical pathology cases and 7,000 cytology cases annually at the university hospital, we investigate a broad spectrum of diseases, including neoplastic and inflammatory disorders. A major strength of our department is the implementation of digital pathology and the development of AI technologies based on basede on whole-slide images. In addition, we possess comprehensive expertise in molecular pathology, ranging from cyogenetic analysis to next-generation sequencing-based comprehensive genomic profiling. By integrating digital pathology, AI, and molecular diagnostic technologies, we aim to establish highly accurate and innovative diagnostic approaches that will advance precision pathology and improve patient care.
